Moments before the project started. Wallpaper and wall damage, trying to tag team against us.
I have a Wallpaper steamer, but it didn't work very well on these walls. I did use the wallpaper scorcher, but it had no real effect.
So though it sounds tedious, I ended up ripping the top layer of the wall paper off.... of all of the walls. I can be amused with little projects like this though so it wasn't as bad as it sounded. Often it would come off is great paper sheets.
After that the steamer worked a little better but I noticed that the glued on paper came off the best where water was building up I turned off the steamer, and filled a water bottle up with warm water. It was like we were going in turbo speed after that. Some areas where the glue was the strongest stayed regardless of how much we worked on it but in the end the walls came out nice and smooth. The paint under it though had that weathered cracked look to it.
The next morning Jeff came over first thing and we started sanding down the walls and the damaged areas.
Then we applied some Gardz to it.
It soaked right into the paper acting as to seal so the moisture in the joint compound wouldn't soak into the paper on the sheetrock and end up causing moisture bubbles.
Then we coated everything in the joint compound the best we could and poof!
Looks like we just shot twinkies at the wall with a machinegun.
Covered in joint compound after we sealed it.... also the spot next to the chair apparently was our blind spot.
Jeff paid his time and left to enjoy what was left of his weekend. I spent the next 3 hours priming the room.
Did I ever tell you how much I don't really like painting? So thats a thing.
The corner, you can still see yellow a bit, but it will be covered in blue so should be ok.
A WIP shot
With the Primer (There is the small section that I needed to patch.)
But she doesn't look too bad.
